Welcome to Emerald Mountain
Mount St. Helens Emerald Obsidianite Jewelry. This is the striking green stone created, under conditions of high heat and pressure, from the pulverized rock which came from 20 miles inside the Earth and expelled by the volcanic eruption from Mount Saint Helens in Washington. This beautiful jewelry looks like emerald. The gemstones that are created today have come from material blown out of the mountain in 1980. The color of Emerald Obsidianite comes from trace elements that are naturally found in the volcanic rock. Mount St. Helens Obsidianite was born from a disaster. The eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980 caused a mud flow that trapped and destroyed the expensive equipment of a local logging company. Using acetylene torches to salvage this equipment, workers quickly noticed that the grey ash of the volcano was melting and turning green. Using that information, it was only a matter of time before the first Emerald Obsidianite stones were created. This disaster and chance discovery has left the world with this remarkable legacy of beauty. Here is a sample picture of what the gemstones look like. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and styles - in rings, earrings, necklaces, etc. Most items come in a choice of 14 kt gold, gold filled and sterling silver settings. Also - over 170 items to choose from. Order turnaround is roughly three weeks. Once your order is placed, it is ordered from the manufacturer and then sent to you. This process can take some time so please be patient. Please e-mail me for photos, prices or with any questions. Prices start at $25. You can contact me at this address or through email.
